FUNCTIONING OF CAVERTA®
CAVERTA ® helps men to get erections when sexually excited. The chemical called sildenafil citrate relax the arteries and broaden them, by increasing the flow of blood into the penis. Once the arteries in the penis expand and harden, the veins that carry blood away from the penis compress, thereby restricting the blood flow out of the penis. As more blood is flowing in and less blood is flowing out, it results in erection of penis. It is to be understood that CAVERTA ® is not a hormone or aphrodisiac, it works only when a man is sexually stimulated.

TIME TAKEN TO WORK
It is ideal to take CAVERTA® about one hour before you plan to have sex. The effect of CAVERTA® begins in about 30 minutes of intake and lasts up to 4 hours; CAVERTA® is not a hormone or aphrodisiac it will help you get an erection only if you are sexually excited. You will not get an erection just by taking the pill. If you take CAVERTA® after a high-fat meal (such as fish, chips, cheeseburger or French fries), it may take a little longer to start working.

SIDE EFFECTS CAVERTA®
(Sildenafil citrate) can cause some side effects like many other medicines. Some side effects are more likely to occur with higher doses. The most common side effects of Sildenafil citrate are headache, flushing of the face and upset stomach. Less common side effects that may occur are temporary changes in color vision (such as trouble telling the difference between blue and green objects or having a blue color tinge to them), eyes being more sensitive to light or blurred vision. These effects are usually mild to moderate and usually do not last longer than a few hours. In very rare instances, men have reported an erection that lasts many hours. You should call a doctor immediately if you ever have an erection that lasts more than 4 hours. If not treated right away, permanent damage to your penis can occur.

RIGHT DOSE
CAVERTA® comes in strengths of 25 mg, 50 mg and 100 mg respectively. The 50 mg dose is ideal for most of the patients but if you do not get the expected results, talk to your doctor. You can work with your doctor and determine best dose that works for you. Avoid taking the dose as per your convenience. Incase of liver or kidney problem, and are taking protease inhibitor or are above the age of 65 years, your doctor may start you at the lowest dose of 25mg and may limit you to a maximum single dose of 25mg of CAVERTA® in a 48-hour period.
